That Old Android Phone in Your Drawer Could Be Watching Your Coop Tonight

Somewhere in a drawer in your house is a phone that hasn't been "your phone" in years. The screen's cracked in the corner, the battery drains faster than it used to, and it's been sitting there since you upgraded — too old to sell, too fine to throw out. Fire departments more broadly (see guidance from Raleigh Fire and the London Fire Brigade) add a consistent set of points: use the charger made for the device rather than an off-brand replacement, charge on a hard, non-flammable surface with clearance from anything that can burn, never cover a charging device, and don't run it through a cheap extension cord.
